Football transfers in 2013

The end of year is coming up and we would like to take this opportunity to show you a list of top 10 football transfers in 2013 that came out. In next few articles we will focus on the players listed below and discuss whether the price was justified or not.

The sum of money that is given includes (speculated) salary, taxes and transfer fee. Top 10 football transfers go something like this:

Gareth Bale from Tottenham to Real Madrid for the sum of €198.8m
Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid to Monaco for the sum of €150.3m
Edinson Cavani from Napoli to PSG for the sum of €148.5m
Neymar from Santos to Barcelona for the sum of €124m
Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid to Arsenal for the sum of €117.6m
Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich for the sum of €114.2m
Marouane Fellaini from Everton to Manchester United for the sum of €97m
Marquinhos from Roma to PSG for the sum of €94.8m
Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid to Napoli for the sum of €88.3m
James Rodriguez from Porto to Monaco for the sum of €83.7m

Some people would say that amounts given on this list are ludicrous. Would you agree? Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid was a world record in transfers. Just to remember you, Gareth Bales transfer fee sums up to around 101.952615 million Euros, while previous transfer fee record holder was Cristiano Ronaldo with (only) £80m (around 95.9554023 million Euros). We must ask ourselves if the amount of money spent on these players is justified and whether the investment in money will be repaid in success of the club. More is to come.
